Orrefors 1941 Engraved Bird of Paradise, Lindstrand & Hald Design

Sorry, this item has sold.

This vase style was a ground-breaking innovation in the world of Swedish art glass. Simon Gate was the first to create a thicker, freeform glass shape like this one. Vicke Lindstrand, inspired by Gate, designed this vase in the early 1930's. The bird design, known as a Bird-of-Paradise, was a favorite of Edvard Hald. It also appeared in the background of designs by Edvin Öllers.

The vase is small, 4" x 4" x 4.125" (102mm x 102mm x 105mm), and it weighs 1 pound (0.46 kg).
