Holmegaard Per Lütken Matched Pair of Smoke Menuet Vases, Danish MCM Favorites, Perfect Gift

Sorry, this item has sold.

These charming, hand blown, glass vases from Holmegaard are part of a favorite Danish glass series, called Menuet, designed by Per Lütken in 1955. The hand blown, heart-shaped pieces were made in many sizes and at least four colors over the 30+ years that they were produced. This matched pair are "Smoke" or brownish gray glass - very Scandinavian Modern.

The wider vase in the pair is 11 cm wide and 5 cm tall, and it was made in 1957. It is marked with the name, "FYENS," which is probably the name of the store where it was purchased. The narrower vase is 10 cm wide and 5.5 cm tall, and it was made in 1959. The condition of the both is very good. These pieces feel great in the hand, so a little wear would not be a surprise, especially on a vase that's 65 years old!

The artist, Per Lütken (1916-1998), was the unsurpassed master of Danish glass design and one of Holmegaard's most advanced glass designers. He worked at the Holmegaard Glass Factory from 1942 until his death in 1998 and breathed life into more than 3,000 glass designs.
